The Way It Was TV is more than just a hunting show—it’s a reflection of a way of life rooted in faith, family, and a deep love for the outdoors. The series follows lifelong friends Sid McCullin and Lynn Beaty, who have spent over 50 years hunting together and passing down their passion to their kids and grandkids. Long before there was a television show, these men were filming their hunts with old VHS cameras, dreaming of the day they could share their stories with a broader audience. That dream came to life when they teamed up with Gevan Spinney, the pastor of First Baptist Church in Haughton, Louisiana. Together, they saw an opportunity not just to showcase their outdoor adventures, but to reach people with the gospel—especially those who might never step foot in a church or listen to a preacher in a suit. Week after week, the show closes with a call to faith, and by God’s grace, thousands have responded. Legendary pro fisherman Hank Parker, known across the country for his faith and outdoor expertise, joined the team after meeting the guys at their annual banquet when he was invited to speak. His heart for the mission was immediate, and he now appears in some of the episodes, helping to further the show’s reach and impact. The Way It Was TV is a celebration of how things used to be—and a bold declaration of hope for what God is doing today. All glory goes to Him.
