Like a time capsule these fish have maintained their monstrous size and aggressiveness and Chile is quickly becoming a world class salmon fishing destination. Continuing their epic journey in Chile, Brendan and Rob move to a new location to target tuna and salmon off the coast of Chile. Fishing beside penguins and sight casting to tuna while only 100 meters from shore is a new experience for both of these veteran anglers.
Following up on last year, Brendan heads to the UBC Marine Research center in Bamfield, BC. He participates in a new study looking to discover the effects of sport fishing on caught and released salmon. Brendan goes through all of the details and process of the study which measures oxygen levels of salmon during angling events and compares it to their resting oxygen intake. This unique study could help with establishing best practices for releasing fish in the future.
