Joel Theriault is a 3rd generation seaplane pilot, fishing and hunting guide, and tourism outfitter with Air Ivanhoe Limited. Joel has been guiding fishermen since the age of 6, hunters since the age of 16, and has appeared on numerous TV shows and magazines as an expert guide and host.
Spring in the north comes with a unique set of challenges and every year is different. This episode we’re struggling with animal caused electrical issues, fixing engines and docks, servicing cabins, making smudge fires to ward of the insects and catching walleye to cook them later lakeside on an open fire.
The guys are off for a “crappy” adventure moving an outhouse to a new location. Landmines are discovered in the nearby woods. Travis and Joel spend the day fixing a broken dock and Travis steps on a rusty nail. The team enjoys a great night of walleye fishing, followed by supper on an open fire!
The boys are going to build a floating dock but first need to strap loads of lumber externally to the floatplane. After a demolition project, the hungry fishermen set out lakeside where Miguel catches and releases a real trophy walleye. An amazing fish fry feast fills everyone's stomachs.

The guys need to wait until the opening weekend is done because theyre hunting with a non-resident, whose season starts 2 days after the resident hunt. Joel and Miguel help the other guests with their moose, do a garbage run for the lodge, get the boats setup for the hunt, and the team finally locates and bags a nice good eating young bull moose.

Joel Theriault and his buddy Mike Lacroix head to a remote wilderness camp and use shotguns to drop a “widow maker” tree – called a widow maker because guys get under them with chainsaws, the trees fall on the guys, and create a widow. The guys then get into jacking and lifting a problematic shed. After the work, it’s time to get out fishing and the guys catch 50 walleye and pike in about an hour – followed by a great fish fry on the lake.

Then the pair heads to a remote wilderness lake for a few hours of fishing on the side of the floatplane. Miguel reveals that he has been struggling with severe vision loss, has gone legally blind in the past year, lost his driver’s license, job, and hope. Through the day and into the evening, Joel reminds Miguel that despite these new vision loss problems, his friends and the outdoor experiences that he loves so much will always be there for him.
Joel is busy around the lodge organizing live bait for the guests when his 2-year-old daughter Alana Theriault arrives to help with the worms. Shortly after, Joel and his 4-year-old son Matteo go collect the chicken eggs. The pair then heads out on a fly in fishing adventure with guest Chuck Langill, catch a bunch of walleye, and Matteo wins the fishing trophy for the night. The next day, Joel gets stuck changing septic pumps, then cleans the walleye with Matteo, cooks a walleye supper, and heads back out one last time for an evening fish.

The spring ice breakup left the dock in a dangerous condition, and the guys cut a few cedar trees to put it back together.
